Mindfulness Museum

Mindfulness within the museum and gallery space allows to take the practice of paying attention on purpose in the present moment of the now. It applies the now-awareness to works of art, creating attention and cultivating a spirit of curiosity and openess to the art experience. Museums are particular well positions for introducing and including mindfulness as they are spaces were visitors make unconscious effort to slow down, to engage more fully with the art and with themselves. Galleries invite visitors for a tailored conscious art experience creating a unique bonding to the space of art exposition and the art pieces themself.
MiNDFULNESS MUSEUM allows the public to experience a permanent art collection or temporary exhibition by involving all the senses. This is done through evaluated exercises such as breathing exercises, meditation, sound baths, conscious movement or even concrete ways of looking, such as Slow looking. Doris Lilienweiss is a long time practitioners of mindfulness with experience and schoolings in all fields of her offer. Over sound, music, scent to meditation and movement, Doris gives the particular value to the perception of artwork starting within the individual. In this way, participants‘ attention is trained, wonder, curiosity and creativity are awakened and a long-term connection with the museum and gallery is created. Art is made tangible and feelable through Mindfulness and is experienced mindfully.

OTHERS ABOUT MiNDFULNESS MUSEUM
„Through MiNDFULNESS MUSEUM I was able to build a real human relationship with the exhibition. This automatically led to greater confidence during my museum tours. I was now able to transfer the connection I felt to the exhibition to the audience during my tours.“
Theodoor Adriaans, museum educator & artist
„When I enter a room in a museum or gallery I scan the space and select a few works to look at them more closely. During MiNDFULNESS MUSEUM, the rest of the room was no longer important. I was completely connected to one object. After the lesson, we told each other about our experiences. Sharing this with others and talking about it was very valuable for me.“
Carin Schuring, art historian & teacher
„Thank you for opening my heart and mind again to the beauty of art. I have experienced a new sense of looking, but most importantly I have experienced art in a different way with all my senses. „
Cathelijn Wagener, fashion designer
